The VIP Squad consists of Veterans and Active Duty Military members (VIP Squad Advisors), and community volunteers who assist program enrollees with making/keeping scheduled appointments, navigating VA processes, and other referrals as needed.
Combat Veterans tend to be more open to receiving assistance from someone whom they feel truly understands their pain. For most of our returning Combat Veterans, past or present Military members do just that.
Poor memory, lack of sleep, and depression can wreak havoc on a Combat Veteran's attempt to keep an organized schedule. Missed appointments can mean delayed healing and those who have served us have suffered enough. Having a VIP Squad Advisor who helps enrollees keep scheduled appointments and meet important deadlines without making them feel incapable or "less than" is essential to a soldier's healing process. This also helps restore the quality of our enrolled Vets primary relationship because it relieves the significant other of these caretaking duties and helps to restore the relationship to back to the supportive partnership it is meant to be.
