On the long "new construction journey the dientzenhofer high school will now be undergoing a "structured participation process" with external support until mid-2020 in which the school family and the authorities are involved.
As explained by the grammar school association, a "sustainable, content-related and spatial concept is to be developed in a so-called phase 0", which will ensure the efficiency, suitability for requirements and future viability of the building project. Among other things, the spaces will be tailored to the educational profile and possible multiple uses will be included. "The more detailed you make this now, the faster it can go in the further processes", says matthias pfeufer of the city’s education bureau.
The so-called abstract spatial program of the government of upper franconia is now available since july. It provides for a maximum required area of 8971 square meters for the DG, which "can be used as a basis for further planning considerations". Now the next steps, a feasibility study for the educational part and the architectural implementation, could take place. Principal brigitte cleary made it clear: "for us, sustainability is more important than speed."
In the fall of 2018, an internal school working group on the "new DG" was formed. An important step in the preparation of a pedagogical concept was taken at a workshop and project day on 15. February 2019, after which other new school buildings were visited.
From the process so far, some key points had emerged that are particularly important for the school family: the structuring of the learning areas according to grade levels, an orientation towards the munich "learning house concept", and a new "learning center" (the pedagogical model focuses on cooperative forms of learning and thinks of teaching as teamwork), retaining the characteristics of the environmental and sports profile, the requirements of a seminar school and the inclusion profile.
At the kaiser-heinrich-gymnasium it’s similar to the DG, but there they are still waiting for stage 1, the government’s space program. "We are in the process of establishing our profile and are also paying special attention to the "all-day" program, says principal michael strehler. "We also look at different concepts and look forward to working with the professionals."
